Film maker embraces piracy

This model will work well for indie film makers but I can't see major studios adopting it anytime soon.

Good to see that they are trying to work it to their own advantage.

I think that people are more willing to donate to the smaller indie studios than they would for the large companies that already have billions to spend on another block buster.
So recouping your costs on a huge Hollywood movie will not be possible via this method.

But I do admire their ingenuity.

Perhaps this can work for music as well... If you like this, please donate to us.
You don't have to master CDs, possibly less marketing, etc. So you have fewer expenses and in turn NEED fewer sales.

Yeah until they become mainstream producers and start making money. Then he'll change his tune. This is not so revolutionary as they would have it sound.

Jamendo & Magnatune already promotes this kind of payment.

I watched it today, it has a good concept but lacks a good story and execution to pull it off. I wouldn't recommend it, although many other reviews I've read describe it as brilliant,
