President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday cautioned artists and musicians to be responsible when developing local television and radio content.

"Whatever we present is part of societal education, " Zuma told a group of entertainers at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

"If you listen to... short stories you are exposed to conspiracies, to killing, to murders, everything you can think of and the young people... are looking at it and choosing their own characters.

... and if I may be so presumptuous to ask Mr President, what character are you hoping young people will choose for themselves when you galavant around the stage chanting "bring me my machine gun" ?? ... or when you nob your best friends HIV positive daughter? or when you make popularist promises you know you have a snowballs hope in hell of keeping ?? ... hmmm ??
 
He's absolutely right. In some ways, TV should show us role-models. The crooked game shows and soft-porn on eTV is not helping in any way.

Agreed. E should show more hardcore porn. We can't let our youth watch poorly shot B-grade material. What example is that setting? :D

I believe when the rest of the world was watching the moon landings on TV, it was still banned here because it could "corrupt the youth" or some such nonsense.

PS: Jungleboy quit with the strawman. Mila did not say anything about children being exposed to sexually explicit material nor did he mean that.

It always amuses me how people bitch and moan about sex and nudity (something that is natural!), making it seem worse than violence.
 
As gary says lets concentrate on problems before worrying about sex.

I do agree there is a too much rubbish sex on tv, damn put some decent sex on tv not this e-tv BS.

Damn i think if we take everyone's porn on this forum we could have a channel running 24/7 for the next 10 years with some decent sex on tv :D
