Purchase of a laptop - TM 8471-944G32Mn SU9400

I am looking at buying an Acer TravelMate (Timeline) with 8Gigs of RAM.

This laptop comes standard with 4 Gigs of RAM (2Gigs X 2) - at about R13000 but would want to have (4Gigs X 2) and I am told Acer SA only provides the former. Also the the 4Gigs will cost me about R2000 each. What I do not understand is why Acer cannot ship a laptop with one 4Gig RAM as standard instead of the 2Gigs X 2.

Any advise or recommendation other laptops would be welcomed.

The reason is because few users require more than 4GB of RAM. You should check the chipset to see how much RAM it actually supports; many only support up to 4GB, but most performance chipsets support more.
