Router for Neotel Connect Prime

Nice Find!

But whats the point of sharing 20kb/s over a network? :p

Looked around and found this one:

...

It works like a charm! Plug the USB into the router, set up the user name and password and there you go.

Are you sure it will work with the Neotel device?? I'm very skeptical about this. It says you can connect a USB 3G modem. It doesn't say anything about supporting CDMA modems, let alone Neotel's self-branded crap.

Also - are you sure you want to invest in a device to share your crappy Neotel connection? I'd rather get ADSL (hopefully this is an option for you), and buy an ADSL modem router. Then get either an Afrihost / DigiChilli uncapped / Screamer Telecoms uncapped ADSL account.

In any case, if you stick with Neotel, be sure to investigate this device properly before buying it.

I am already using the device for about a month now and my brother for 2 or so weeks. Works great. In the 3G set up mode you have a choice of 3G / 3.5G or CDMA2000.

In all honesty, I haven't had that much problems with Neotel and have found the connection to be relatively fast. I stay in the Garsfontein area. The only problems I experience is disconnections from time to time (driving me nuts) but that seems to be on Monday mornings.

To recap, awesome router. It works.

Soz... didn't know you already have it. After having a second look, I am really impressed. It's got a WAN ethernet port (for PPOE connections), USB which supports 3G and CDMA2000, 4 LAN ethernet ports, and 802.11n wireless support, all for just R655.

Nice find. I paid R1024 for my Netgear ADSL modem router, with 802.11n + 4 LAN ports and one ADSL port.

Good for you.. I've been on iBurst for the last 2-3 years. I finally dumped them a month ago after I couldn't take it anymore, and got ADSL 512kbps. the Internet has been a whole NEW experience for me. iBurst Wireless 1mbps just can't compete with ADSL 512kbps.
