As a note - This does not reflect on the service provided by vodacom3g - He has assisted brilliantly so far but can only do so much as one person

I have read multiple threads regarding the lack of knowledge at Vodashop's and within the Customer Service and Accounts Department within Vodacom. However this weekend and this evening proved once again to be a horrifying experience.

I have discontinued the use of all my Vodacom contracts including my 3G since the end of last month due to a continued disagreement between me and Vodacom accounts. However I am leaving for the UK soon and after discussions with my father it was decided that he is getting a new weekender contract with Vodacom and a MyMeg One package added and I installed and setup my Options card for him to use. This way he can stay in contact with me once I leave. This is where the problems started.

Firstly none of the shopowners we spoke to were prepared to give us a phone instead of a data card on the 3G One package. Vodacom3g did source one at which time my dad, and a friend from the UK, both had already submitted and signed weekender contracts instead and gone the addon route. Once the contracts where signed, where the salesperson at the Vodashop had no idea of how much 3G even costs let alone whether it can be added on to a weekender package at all, I phoned Vodacom Customer Care on behalf of my father (He has an hearing aid and deaf in his right ear and therefore struggle on the phone) After the neccessary security checks the Customer Care consultant informed me that 3G is new and they have had no training and he needs me to wait until Tuesday before I can get anything done.

I then phoned 155 and spoke to another consultant, who after all the required checks where done phoned me back to inform the data account will be activated within 24 hours and has been added. After fighting Vodacom4me to register the card, lo and behold there is no data package loaded, and also the SIM card has not registered on the GPRS network since activated even after receiving the welcome to the internet and data access SMS has been recieved. I cannot test the SIM in the Data Card. I then registered on the vodacomsp.co.za site only to have no why to log into the account once registered, continually complaining that i need a valid UserID.

3G is awesome, cellphone contracts and pricing bearable, V3G service outstanding via the forums. But that is where it stops. I know have to get my father to go through all the hassle of phoning them again, and I feel guilty after promising him a simple and quick installation.

Vodacom3G, I know your one man but when is Vodacom going to be able to properly sell and support their products ? I saw 3 customers leave Vodashop and heading for MTN because no one could properly answer their 3G queries, that's within an hour in one shop, how many more in others. Apart from the fact that Vodacom has shown they do not care losing a mere R 5000.00 a month spend on contracts with them due to their 12,000,000 claimed subscribed members ?

My moment to complain is over. Takes a deep breath and attempts phoning 155 again
