I read recently of another mouse that allows this... the only problem is how do you keep track of what DPI setting is active?

I have one of these, and can honestly say it is the best mouse I have ever had. The dpi adjustment buttons are not a gimmick, and the little screen works well. Much nicer than any Razer mouse I have used, and really good value for 550 bucks, imo.

Smooth across any surface and accurate as hell.
 
that is abit overkill to have such high DPI?! i have a mouse that can be set to 2500DPI and its way to much IMO
