SABC says it has FIFA agreement

Well since i don't have DSTV/Supersport/Monochoice , i guess my tv license has to be good for something.

However i can't comment on the quality of said broadcasts. They'll probably switch to the 6'clock Xhosa news right in the middle of a penalty shoot-out...or mysteriously cut out 30 minutes of playtime to make space for Generations/Isidingo .

Better than nothing, but if you were paying your R500 a month to DSTV, it might be a bad thing ;).

let me guess now, even if they do have a fifa contract, all the games will be as usual delayed, so at half time they will start broadcasting the first half, useless monkeys:sick::sick::sick: and whats the bet only the bafoona bafoona games will be shown :D:D

It just means they will supply the feed to all & sundry.
Now that's not a very good thing is you watched the 2 recent bafana games broadcast by SAUK. The camera work is very shoddy, at the NM Bay stadium game, it looked like they had two cameras covering the game & no way to correct for when the game went into the stadium shadows.

SAUK do have the equipment for broadcasting the WC though, they bought 2 (iirc) SONY HD OB units (that purchase is in the courts because some contract feels he should have got the job).

So if you have DSTV you will still get the normal wall-to-wall coverage that goes with SS. And oh, FIFA will be dictating how the games are broadcast to the letter, so any slip-ups the SABC expects will be severely punished. But knowing the SAUK they will F it up anyway.

Remember the SABC brought you the champs trophy (in HD):)

No joking, they will do it. They do it with the cricket all the time.

will all 3 channels be broadcasting the wc live? because knowing sabc they'll probably broadcast 1 game live and the other games will be shown late at night as a repeat.

But locally the commentary will be in 11 languages (minus english and afrikaans). And it will rotate every 2 minutes.

Imagine this: The broadcaster is SABC, the transmission is provided by Telkom and the power is provided Eskom......

WHo exactly is imagining that? It's the ver sorry truth of the matter...

Will have to be 100% english thank God ;)

Since it needs to cater for the Tourists also. Not all tourists are going to all games and they will be watching them from home as well.

I wasn't referring to the language so much as to the quality of the commentary itself.
