Mininova.org R.I.P

Sad sad day indeed :( RIP mininova.org you will be missed dearly :p

File sharing is in danger

With the amount of sites offering pay subscriptions and thousands of other torrent portals around, do you honsestly beleive that? Never mind NZB's, irc , dcc hubs or just plain old direct downloads.

All they doing is killing the more public sites that actually flaunted what they do. However I did have a look at some of the bands on mininovas content list, they look intersting.

Also there is a lot more hosted streaming content for movies and series etc. I don't understand how those can run, which actually host the file to be streamed and the other search aggregators get nailed.

so sad now no more new movies etc.....Mininova was the best free site

Anyone know of another place to find my torrents now?
www dot torrentz dot com references the other big public sites still remaining. TPB and Mininova used to show up on searches there the last I checked, so the others should still be there.

But if you want to avoid the disappointment of all these sites closing down, the best thing to do is to try and get yourself into a private site with a private tracker.

Couldn't agree more.

With Rapidshare being so well known, I wonder how long it will take for the folks that took down TPB and Mininova to start looking at RS.

There has been a constant battle between the filesharers and the authorities since the beginning of media. There will always be the next thing.

I remember in the 1990's when we used to get out 'warez' off of ftp servers that didn't restrict the 'incoming' folder.

Many thought that sharing had been dealt a big blow when Napster was taken down.

They will never stop it. All they can do is make it harder for the lay man to get into it.
