Did an upgrade @ a vodashop recently and was told by the person assisting me that i should be a "platinum customer" The benefits sound great. Upgrade every year, lower rates...

He said that its based on your average spend. The average spend has to be +R500.

Has anyone heard about this?

I have 6 contracts and spend nothing less than R2800.00 monthly overall. If i recall correctly i spent roughly R70k on Vodacom bills last year. Been with Vodacom since i got my first job, thats roughly 6 years of loyalty now!?

What gives? :(

Whats this?

I spend way more than that. I have never heard of it.

My dad was on it for 2 years or so a few years back. His usage averaged at around R1000 per month for one contract (they look at spending per contract). You get a new phone every year and they even deliver it to you. They replaced my dad's N70 (brought a new one to his office), because they received so many complaints from other subscribers. He used to brag with his special platinum card... until they dropped his platinum status out of the blue...

Check out the competitions loyalty programme

Vodacom needs to catch a wake up. Im seriously considering a move....
Vodacom believes only prepaid customers are worthy of a loyalty programme, unless you only use it for data, then you're not deserving of a loyalty programme either. Data customers would have received someting in "Occtober", but it never happened...

How do you know a Vodashop employee is bullshyting? If his lips move the chances are in excess of 90% that he is! AFAIK it is R2500/month per line...

Here’s how i see Vodacom’s logic.

1 contract @R2500x12months = 30k

6 contracts @ R5800 overall x12months = +-70k

Customer that has one contract gets to be platinum.

My subscriptions alone come to R3000.00. if we look at the MTN loyalty points system at least i would be getting something back.

I'd heard that it was R2500 above the cost of the contract, but I'm not in that league (thankfully).

The main considerations for Vodacom to extend a platinum membership offer to you is as follows:

1. Average spend - R4000 +- per month or higher. This is not for the whole account, but on a line per line basis.
2. The way that the account have been managed by the user.

Even if the criteria is met above, it is not a guarentee that a platinum membership will be extended to the client. A client can not apply for this as it is up to VSP's discretion.

Are you able to confirm your source? Maybe it’s more accurate than mine.

I just spoke to the premium customer services(082 1903). They confirmed the following criteria:

1.They look at overall spend on the profile.
2.Minimum spend must be R2200.00 after subscriptions.
3.The will look at how the account has been conducted.
4.One can ask to be assessed and considered for platinum status.

They are assessing my account and will let me know. so far i meet the criteria for points 1-3. will update on the outcome

Seems to me like a lot of speculating going on in this thread.

Anybody got a link to something that can confirm the spend, and the benefits/rewards?
Guys are talking from +- R500 p/m all the way to +-R4000 big different there. Apart from the yearly upgrade, dont think anybody else has mentioned any other benefits.

Whats the rewards?

At the discretion of VSP....simply put,.....by invite only ....R4000.00 spend a month does not get you on the list....- if you are an individual of influence or great standing in the community, as per VSP criteria, you on that list . I am sure if you had to review the list, you will find that the Knott Craig family are on there, not forgetting the political elite....some ICASA councillors, members of the boards of the Vodacom Group of companies, friends of the MD, CEO, some EHOD of Vodacom.... sure they are there too....guess when you call 111 from your mobile, you get routed to your "special" helpdesk...no Q or crap background music for you.... ...- back in the day the 99 HLR was reserved for employee and VIP usage....- not sure how it is structured now.

That would be the ONYX membership. Platinum is based on spend...;)
