No full body scanners for SA airports yet: ACSA

Acsa just recently announced a massive increase, could you imagine the increase if they had to pay for the full body scanners.
 
sometimes you have to wonder.. with this full body scanners being the only one that would work and corp's in a tight spot wrt spending, was there musch stock market change for company in the lead up to this event? (hijacking)
 
I saw a news report on what's available to detect the explosives (PETN) used by the recent plane bomber, and many reported that dogs would be the most cost effective and reliable, but they expected people would not like their crotches sniffed by dogs.
 
ACSA is a little bit tight for cash now. That new airport in La Mercy is costing a fortune.

Oh, thank God for that. Have no desire for my privates being on full display to the controllers to do what they want with the video feed. Have you seen just how invasive those images are???? Then what about religious sensitivities???? Just having a scanner like that (that makes you appear totally naked) will get abused, especially in SA.

Have you ever seen the images these things produce?
 
I recently went thro Joburg customs. The customs officer was a black women with a white womens ID pinned to her lapel.
 
does anyone have any idea how good our scanners actually? im just interested as my friends were considering taking some weed on the plane with them and i told them its a no go! i mean you dont see any evident sniffer dogs that get near your hand luggage.i mean if i compressed something and shoved it into something into something etc etc ? i never would as thats just stupid but my friends probably would :P lol.
I know that they obvioulsy know what they looking for but sometimes i think the hand luggage check is a little rushed. anyone have any further info on this?

I have seen sniffer dogs at JNB at arrivals and departures, and they most certainly do sniff around people and their hand luggage.

What are you implying :D

Personally I have no problem with it. I don't mind "flashing" a controller it reduces the odds of being blown up mid-flight.

I doubt those images are that detailed anyway.
