Here we go folks. Something many of you all have been waiting for. Finally, an official 5.0 release for the BlackBerry Bold 9000. As it was posted in the CrackBerry forums, Bell Mobility has made OS 5.0.0.411 available for everyone to download. If you've been running the previously leaked version there is no reason to update but if you haven't grabbed a leaked version yet you'll want to get your hands on this one. Remember to delete your vendor.xml file if you are not a Bell Mobility subscriber. Here's to hoping we'll see a bigger roll out across carriers for all devices still needing OS 5.0.

Shot for the heads up !

I have had bad times with flashing routers and to be honest if it aint giving me any trouble I will try my hardest not to flash anything unless its my last resort.

If it adds another four days onto my battery life.... :)

Will give the link a read.

Time to start the 12 month countdown before Vodacom releases it here?

I wonder if it will work on MTN and Vodacom networks?

I am also impressed with the stability of this release. Definately worth it, but if you use the VC SatNav, beware, the back button does not work with OS5

I think I'd rather wait for Vodacom to release OS v5.0 before upgrading. I've read some scary posts on the web where blackberry's have become paperweights after OS upgrades went a bit awry. :wtf:

There are definately two schools of thought on this subject.

I've had this version for a while now and it has only improved the phone. I am not sure if VC will even release a V5. You cannot easily brick the phone doing an upgrade. There are apps like BBSAK etc. that you can use if something does go wrong (I've done this a few times) :) On the other hand, the upgrade is not going to get your Berry in the kitchen making breakfast. It only has improvements on the current software.
