New airport scanners could 'break child porn laws'

Chances are that there probably is already some exemption for law enforcement officials, otherwise the police and prosecutors wouldn't be able to do their work as far as the assessment and presentation of evidence is concerned.

I think the taking of the image is as problematic as reviewing reviewing it.

Last time we flew to the UK my missus, who was pushing our youngest in the stroller, was allowed to completely bypass security.
 
What a ****ing joke. I'm getting so sick of these human rights and privacy advocates making things difficult for law enforcement :mad:
 
Just had a look @ the pics posted by Ricard, and I dont see what all the fuss is about. The private bits you can hardly see but the weapens etc is shown very well. I think this can only be a good thing and would not have a problem being scanned. I would rather be scanned than blown up.

:wtf: Dunno if it's a case of getting sick or if it's sadly way too late!

Denial of human rights or rights to privacy (or personal freedom) is a slippery slope... why stop at invasive technology, for instance? Why not make law enforcement real easy by forcing all passengers to strip and leave their clothes behind, then slap on leg schackles and handcuffs, bubblewrap them and chain them to their seats? Future refinements could include muzzles in case passengers get it into their heads to spew flaming liquids or inflamatory ideas of privacy/personal rights. And armed guards could be stationed in the aisles in case passengers revolt by blinking dangerously.

That would unfortunately only take care of air travel. We would have to come up with new strategies to enforce the law on the streets. Perhaps we should consider strip searching people before they leave their homes and confiscate all liquids, matches, sharp objects and other dangerous devices? Perhaps we should also enforce curfews and issue dompasse and just outright ban clothing of any sort to facilitate law enforcement?

Oh, and come to think of it, I wonder if it's such a good idea to allow possibly suicidal maniacs to freely roam the streets in dangerous machines that carry payloads of litres and litres of inflammable fuel and have top speeds of 250km/h or more. Better to just ban these killer machines, perhaps? We wouldn't want to make things difficult for law enforcement, hey ...
 
Hold on just a minute here. Lets back up a little. We're talking about the rights of children yes sure. But isn't this some kind of distraction to the overall picture. What about the rights of everybody who will be scanned by this device or are we all merely simply meant to discuss the rights of children and simply take our rights for granted because we're not minors?

Why should we be scanned by some evasive machine because the FBI failed to do their job properly.....again? This is the real issue at hand here, not child pornography.
