About a year ago I got incredibly excited when I saw a Neotel promotional stand just outside the local supermarket in our area.
Upon chatting to them, they advised that although there was no coverage at that point, there would be really soon, which was why they were advertising in the area.

Now, a year later and STILL no coverage in my area. When I ask them if and when they will be covering, I keep getting the same useless answer: "We can't tell you which areas will be covered by when but we can tell you that eventually, 80% of SA will be covered."

EVENTUALLY? That's not a real benchmark, now is it? Give me some sort of rough estimate, even if you're way off. Don't feed me some line about how my area may be covered some time in the undetermined and quite possibly very distant future.
And just my luck, my area will fall into the 20% that never gets coverage.

For the record, I stay in Parklands, Cape Town.
I see Tableview has had coverage for pretty much most of the year and according the the Neotel online maps, that coverage hasn't changed or expanded in the least.

I'm getting fed up waiting for Neotel but at the same time, I'm reluctant to waste money on a DSL installation only to find that they cover my area a month from now. Bleh.

/speechless

Get DSL man, iburst sucks monkey nuts compared to a fixed line

edit: ah, notice you were talking about neotel - same thing.

Well, after reading all the other threads here, I've decided that I've waited all this time in vain. Neotel appear to have a predominantly rubbish service record and and even worse coverage one.

yeah man, go for Telkom they are awsome compared to this cr@p.

Be glad they never got arround to covering your area. You just spared yourself a lot of frustration.

Neotel is crap even if you do have coverage. Go for ADSL not the wifi k@k from Neotel.
