Busses discontinued after failing roadworthy tests

Provincial traffic officials said on Friday eight busses had been pulled off the road in the Southern Cape.

Three Intercape busses, four City-to-City vehicles and one bus transporting Johannesburg University students were inspected near George on Friday.

All the coaches had failed roadworthy tests.

Western Cape Community Safety MEC Lennit Max said there were varied reasons for discontinuing the use of the pulled over busses.

“It is believed that they had defensive brakes and problems with the steering mechanisms, smooth tires, oil leaks and other related issues,” he commented.
