Hi,
The Nokia N79 active comes with Polar Heart Rate Belt and Sports tracker symbian app. Will the Heart Rate Belt and app work with the 6710 and E52. I tried looking on the net but no success. Also Where in DBN can I get a Polar Heart Rate Belt?

Regards,
git

Any of the polar agents sell the belt. Otherwise google for the local agents, they are really helpful and their service is excellent.

Yip, I checked this out myself the other day and apparently that monitor only comes as a package with that phone! There were a number of complaints on the Nokia site about it not being made available with other phones. There was some talk of another blue tooth one that may work but research did not bring up any luck...

Ive got the N79 Active, awesome phone and very handy sport package... I actually go jogging more now so I can see my times increase ;)

I did have to wait about 3 weeks to get mine, seems like (In the Western Cape atleast) they are low on stock, they had to get one from Eastern Cape, their network was down the whole time and when it got here it failed after about 30 minutes, had to get a replacement unit from Joburg...

Been using it now for 2 weeks and very impressed, coming from TyTn2...

The sports tracker application is available on most Nokias, it is just the heart rate belt that is unique to the N79. I use sports tracker when cycling and it definitely does provide motivation to go quicker next time! ;)

Hi, I also wish to use the N79 for cycling. Does the sports tracker application give you speed and how accurate is it? So I presume the N79 sprt tracker would be able to provide data: heart rate vs distance and heart rate vs speed

Yeah, the sports tracker application uses the built in GPS to track your position through out. This can then be uploaded to your personal sports tracker page online to keep a record of your exercise. It records speed, altitude, distance and your track. If you had the N79 with the Polar heart belt it'd also monitor your heart rate. As asked by yourself you can then check speed vs distance, speed vs altitude, speed vs heart rate etc etc.

From my experience it is rather accurate. If you stop though you are better off pausing the application as the GPS will bounce around a bit which may add a few metres to your distance. You can also export your track to google earth or other GPS apps to view.

Here is an example of a workout shown on the Sports Tracker online app :

Unfortunately I do not have the heart rate monitor so the graph does not show this. The application on the phone gives you all this data too, together with your track on a map. The format on the phone is obviously slightly different

I must say that im impressed. nice piece of software for sports guys. You would be able to train scientifically for optimal power output! ALAS..technology
