A second Pretoria pensioner in less than a week has met a violent death at the hands of thugs.

Katrina Hendrika van den Berg, 65, was found murdered in her Daspoort home, apparently killed by a man who was carrying out maintenance work on her property.

Her death comes days after Kitty Botha, 83, was slain in her Lyttelton home, which was set alight by robbers who killed her without taking anything.

Van den Berg's badly bruised and battered body was discovered in her lounge yesterday by her husband, Jan, 56, after neighbours were unable to raise her on the phone or by calling her name outside her Herman Street property.

how about moving to a less glamorous house? why is the solution "fire the domestic" where some people are close to their domestics? i grew up close to my domestic, even learning tswana and visiting her in the evenings. just because some people think it's a sin to be close to your domestic or to hire someone to help with the housework now we all have to start firing them? yes, let's alienate black people even more.

Well, according to the statistics the majority of home invasions are the result of info supplied by domestics and gardeners.
 
I don't think some people will have trouble getting refugee status in first world countries, if they produce some of these stories.

I disagree with the point about getting rid of the domestic, but what will it help if you move to a less glamorous house ?

From the article:

De Bruin confirmed that detectives were looking for a man who had been doing maintenance work at the home, as well as the family's gardener.

He said it appeared as though only Van den Berg's cellphone had been stolen in the attack.

believe me, nobody gets as angry as me when i read these kind of stories. i already fantasise about what i would do to these people if i ever got hold of them. but my anger sometimes extends to people who make silly comments that will harm people who in some cases would have nothing to do with crime.

most house robberies are from houses where criminals think they'll gain something, like laptops, guns, jewelery. most domestics are questioned for information on the house(intentionally?) but i can't help but be angry when MY two domestics were the ones who were so good to me thru my childhood get trampled like they're a statistic for some silly solution.

as opposed to the "lefties", "liberals", and "govermunt supporters"? i get irritated when people rush to use a label so they can make it clear they fit into a certain niche
 
Its funny how most racism / violent murder stories come out of Pretoria, I'd certainly think of moving if I lived there.

while growing up we never had any break-ins, our domestic worker slept in the house and often her son would come to visit, parking his Mapogo A Mathamaga vehicle outside.

You must go and read the crime stats. It happens everywhere, we just do not sticking our heads up our bums and pretend it does not happen.

Why should people be forced to move houses because of the greed of others? Housebreakers deserve to get killed.
