The White House has condemned evangelist Pat Robertson for his remark on a religious broadcasting network that Haiti had been cursed with the devastating magnitude-7 earthquake that hit on Tuesday.

In his statement Robertson said Haiti has been cursed because of what he called a "pact with the devil" in its history.

His comments were apparently based on the voodoo rituals that were carried out in Haiti prior to the slave rebellion against French colonists in 1791.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said he thought the remarks by Robertson had been "utterly stupid" in a time of so much suffering.

But while a spokesman for Robertson has said his boss never said the earthquake was God's wrath, the White House has insisted the statement that was made did not “express the spirit of the American people or the president."

Reminds me of the Mayor of New Orleans claiming Katrina was god's punishment for Iraq. :erm:

I found a pamphlet in the post this morning from a traditional healer promising many cures for almost any ailment focusing particularly on those of a sexual nature.

Of interest to you perhaps is penis enlargement going for R350.

There's a subtle yet important difference.

And while that may or may not explain why they're so poor, the fact that the island sits over a major fault line explains the earthquake itself.
