How to ship a Nexus One from the US

I need to decide how to ship my Nexus here. Some one over there is buying it for me and then will ship it. Not having done much shipping from the US, I need some advice. DHL? FedEx? Another service?

Anyone using myus.com for shipping? What were the costs and delivery times?
 
I will also recommend FedEx, although they had a royal time with a Garmin Quest GPS unit I shipped here in 2004 from the US. The box was clearly opened and crudely resealed, and the unit was scratched and the software settings messed about with.

In 2004 this was still a very unheard of item of course, so they must have been very curious to what it was. ;)

Last week I also received a shipping with them from Kalahari.net, but they failed twice to deliver it to my correct address. Turns out the driver was not literate, as he was trying to deliver the item to a house with a completely different number up the street.

Errrrr...... I wouldn't. I'd go with a re-shipper, something like MyUS.com
 
Maybe you could use shipito.com because they have special rates with Fedex and UPS and they can receive your Nexus for you and ship it to your address. I used them before and it works well.
 
So, FedExLashelia. My friend shipped it FedEx. Now it gets to customs and fedEx wants me to fork over R1381.84 for tax and customs, over and above the shipping fee! On a R4500 item. FedEx's own tax and duty estimator says it should be around R850. What the hell? This is extortion.

The VAT is about R550. What is FedEx charging me R830 for?
