Johannesburg – It has been reported that taxpayers are forking out R300 000 per month for the latest obsession of Julius Malema, leader of the ANC Youth League: blue lights and bodyguards.

A political storm was caused by the news that Malema was being protected by the police’s VIP protection unit because “his life was in danger”.

This unit protects heads of state, cabinet ministers and the highest ANC officials.

“Blue lights and security personnel are a fashion trend to Malema – like Paris Hilton’s dog in the handbag,” responded Dianne Kohler Barnard, DA MP and spokesperson for safety and security.

She said Malema’s security was costing the taxpayer a third of what it cost to protect President Jacob Zuma.

Police on Saturday did not want to reveal when or how Malema’s life was in danger.

Rapport learnt reliably that up to four bodyguards, who cost up to R35 000 each per month, were needed to protect a person like Malema.

Additional costs like plane tickets, hotel accommodation, fuel and cars had not yet been calculated.

:wtf:

This is sick!

ID leader Patricia de Lille said, “For someone who likes to make controversial statements in the media it is cowardly to now suddenly be afraid.”

^5 to Patricia.

35k ? i think i must become a body gaurd :P

I agree with Patricia de Lille, if he causes **** he must learn to live with the consequences.

Malema is causing more problems than anything else. Something needs to be done about his big mouth and his stupid escapades!!

He needs to be involved in a accident of sorts, waste of oxygen.

Haha. I just had a thought. Maybe it's threads like these that make Malema believe his life is in danger.

getting tired of Malema, can they chuck him out and elect a new retard to head the ANCYL already...

Weak, actually pathetic. I expected even you to be able to do better.

Perhaps, rather than criticising the news, you should retract the statements made in this thread.

Perhaps we can merge the threads then.
Excuse me for assuming this was the Current Affairs section.

it's going to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. He says his life is in danger, so somebody takes up the challenge and offs him.

We can only hope. There are people out there starving and in need of housing who could do with the money much better than this jerk-off yutz.

Could someone explain to me why the head of a political party is paid by tax-money? Is he actually performing duties similar to those a ward councillor? I don't understand this

He is doing a great job , and a sensitive one too . although 300grand might seem as peanuts in protecting the protector of the historically marginalised I think for now the Comrade must soldier on with that .
Viva ANC Viva
