Neotel bandwidth usage monitor here soon

rpm gets sucked into writing an article for Neotel.

rpm should've put there (on the article) that the current Neotel users will throw a MASSIVE party if it ever happens... or at least happens... before the NEXT world cup we host ;)

Was shocked to realize that an ISP offering capped internet, does not have a tool for its customer to check their usage. That's a bit like selling a car without a fuel gauge, no?

Lol, exactly. They probably reckoned it wasn't worth the bother creating a bandwidth monitor cos most people won't even reach their cap with their sucky speeds.
 
I wouldnt believe a word that comes out of these fools mouths. They just promise promise promise. We all know better now and RPM so should you.

I doubt they will stick to this deadline.

Damn fools at neotel can shove their product up their .....

These days I get bursts of around 30 kbytes/s, which should be able to get me to 15GB. I use internet whenever it is available, but this month Neotel has been down so many times, so may disconnections per day and slow speed that I only used 5GB so far of my 15GB cap.

And it is costing me in time, money as I regularly have to fall back to Vodacom (expensive).

My one friend has a 2.5G cap (?? or is that 2GB on Prime). He initially said that the disconnections and crap is not really a problem as he decided to only use it to up and download emails a few times per day. Now it has gotten so bad that he cannot even do that.

I run my Flex as a modem and count my own data via DuMeter (that has been super accurate for years now). With Vodacom I have never been off by more than 10MB. Now with NoTel I was off by 200MB (in their favour). But still it was not a problem as no matter how hard I tried I battled to reach 10GB.

I am so glad I didn't go for an uncapped account. That would have been pure garbage for me. It is like buying a pill from a witch doctor that you have to drink at 95 that will make you live forever. The problem is that you will never even reach 95.

For January I actually thought of running the Flex as a router again, as reaching 15GB is nearly impossible, but since my last bill shows a 200MB difference I think it might be dangerous. The next bill might be 2GB off, and the next 15GB.

So an usage monitor would be very nice. If they do provide one then I can check meg for meg if their value matches mine. That is probably what they are worrying about. If it does match up I can run the flex as a router again and get full functionality. But currently it seems to be a better idea to dump the whole thing and go for Telkom.
