I am thinking of getting this phone soon. Just wanted to check with the current users if the phone shifts between screens and apps quite fast or is there a delay? What is the speed of the processor and what processor is installed on this phone?

I wouldn't say it's particularly fast. Video is nice and smooth. Look it's not really in the same leagues as a proper touchscreen OS so it's difficult to compare directly. It's fast enough for what you need to do.

It's a pretty good phone for the price you pay. Check out the specs and review at GSM Arena.

Comes with 3.2MP camera with dual LED flash, HSDPA, GPS, WLAN, touch screen. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I'd highly recommend it. It's a bit old though. Released end of 2008. If you can get your hands on the Nokia X6, that would be even better.

Good one, Jazz!

Is X6 available in SA? and who (carrier) has the best deal?

X6 specs are almost identical to 5800. or am I missing something? also X6 is a tad bit heavier for hand held.

With firmware v40 (and the last two) this phone is most certainly fast, having used it to do everything from Office work to music playing, to playing avi dvdrips. If you turn the theme effects off its even faster. Using the Just Black theme speeds it up even more.

I have seen slower s60v5 phones out there, but only one or two faster phones.

I don't see any reason to spend the extra money on an X6.
The 5800 isn't super fast, but it runs well. I'm very happy with mine.

It lags a bit, but it's not particularly slow. I did, however, feel like it was a downgrade from my N78 speed-wise. Not to mention all the problems the 5800 XM has given me :(
