Why don't multiple streets , whole suburbs strike a deal with
Vodacom to relay CCTV data via HSDPA to a central control room. ?
This will boost your property value and banish crime from South-Africa's
suburbs. Don't make assumptions, contact www.eblockwatch.co.za
Andrei Snyman and let him take up the issue. He has direct access to
Vodacom's directors.

Such a solution will revolutionise the security industry - the industry
will change from a reaction to one to a monitoring one.
Since such data is all local and not international costs should be very low.
 
Security monitoring of properties (residential & commercial) is one of the products Vodacom is developing with local security companies.

A number of people are doing this already for themselves, installing a few CCTV cameras, connected to a WEB-enabled DVR and monitor it via 3G. The ultimate security / baby monitor.

Any chance of VoIP call centres in squatter camps or poor communities which offer cheap calls especially to cellphones?
 
haha, i was war chalking the other day, and i came across a 5 star hotels network that was open without encyption, and i came across one of those web based CCTV systems. Now, if i was criminaly inclined, i could have seriously abused it

IE was used as the web application required activex controls, but it was real cool :D
