Hi,

I've been looking around for a budget digital camera that can take HD video. Basic specs I am aiming for are 10 megapixel and atleast 720p HD recording.

I have been looking at the CYBERSHOT DSC-TX1, but at R3500 is a bit pricey. Are there any other cameras you can recommend? I like the Cybershots as they are shaped in a very "travel friendly way" which is the main purpose of this purchase.

What you guys think? any recommendations/ opinions?

That is exactly what I have been looking for.

Thanks a stack.

Is the sensor also 20% bigger?

Don't get caught up in the number of pixels a camera offers. More is not better, and many cases is worse.
Now with 20% more jittery, nausea inducing content to make your friends and family suffer through. :o :D

Lock it down! (that means use a tripod)

Yes, we know... I hoped the tone of my post would suggest that I was joking. The OP is looking at budget though and this is what he needs at the budget he has.

Ok. Well, I didn't pick up on this joke. Will continue looking. Not to worry guys will pay a visit to the camera store and try out a few.

Peace.

Well it was only a joke in my head then... :erm:

Everybody on all photography forums will always tell you it is not about the number of pixels. Like you said, go and try a few and see what you think. Take a memory card with you and take photos with a few (of the same subject and with the same settings). Then go and check them at home at 100% size, and check if you see a difference in quality.
