Hello

I have a Nokia N70 which I connect to my laptop via Bluetooth and then use Nokia PC Suite to dial into the internet.

I would like to know whether this will give me the same internet speed as if I had a 3G card (or modem) attached to my laptop.

Thanks

I don't know about the speed, but not having the phone available for calls killed it for me

Wouldn't the fact that its bluetooth slow it down a bit?

Your speed would therefore depend on your connection (signal, etc) and your bluetooth connection to the PC, me thinks.

I could be wrong. Have been before.

I expected someone would mention the bluetooth aspect.

Now... how does one measure the bluetooth connection speed??

My laptop is a Dell Latitude D600

...

Bluetooth Version 1.2 => 1 Mbit/s
Bluetooth Version Version 2.0 + EDR => 3 Mbit/s

If you want to do anything more than the occasional internet connection then just spend the cash and get a 3G modem. They generally outperform phones because they are purpose built, besides as per the above posts N70 does vanilla 3G, which is not that fast. Search this forum there are numerous discussions on the topic.

Also, would having the modem improve signal strength, or no difference?
