Harare - White businesspeople in Zimbabwe who don't cede control of their companies to black partners could face jail under a law going into effect next month.

An official notice on Tuesday says the law will be enforced from March 1, and includes jail penalties of up to five years. It gives companies worth $500 000 or more 45 days to submit compliance proposals. Foreign investors also need to meet an "empowerment quota."

The law passed by the Harare parliament when it was still dominated by President Robert Mugabe's lawmakers in 2008 is meant to benefit "indigenous" Zimbabweans - those who suffered under colonial-era racial discrimination and their children born after independence in 1980. That effectively excludes the nation's 20 000 whites.

Never let it be said that Mugabe is a fool.

On the one hand he lambastes Morgan for not getting sanctions lifted, on the other he does things like this to ensure sanctions will not be lifted.

It's all about power, and he could care less about the effect this will have for his people.
 
well maybe this will cause the South African government to step in on behalf of the South Africans at least... maybe... just maybe.

We do hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business with Zim every year... and they pay in cash up front! :D In fact we supply several printing firms in Zim with foil for scratch off cards that are then exported to the UK.
 
The last nail in Zimbabwe's coffin. How does turning profitable, tax paying companies into insolvent monkey cages give Mugabe power? Rather have educated whites paying you taxes to line your pockets than throw it all down the drain.

At least they serve as a model for south africa`s politicians on how to fail completely.

The remaining portions of the lives and souls of all the remaining whites in ZIM. Then SA will slowly look at ZIM and use that as an example to follow so the ANC's main aim can be met. IE ONE NATION, ALL "INTEGRATED"
 
How about these so called indigenous zimbabweans get off their lazy arses and create something for themselves instead of stealing what the whites have.
 
All the intelligent Zimbabweabs are in SA studying or trying to get jobs ment for South Africans. I've met some really bright Zimbabweans with a good South African education who dont have any plans on moving back any time soon. But they work for much less pay than locals so they get work. These are the okes that Zimbabwe needs to fix the country when Mugabe pops off. I just hope a few with some sense are left in Zim as the educated ones are working in other countries. This is according to my one Zim buddy.
 
in all honesty, why would they go back if they most probably won't have the same opportunity in Zim as in SA. ( the educated ones that is)

I actual fact Zim used to be a pleasant, nice and beautiful country until the parasites took over. NOW IT'S ALL BUT GONE!

yup, but the Zimbabwears are as much to blame for their country as anyone else, - in fact they are the only ones to blame, the had lots of opportunities to remove this crook from power, you get what you vote for.

This world truly has gone mad.

Last night on the news I watched some bigwig Zimbo in a pinstripe suit (can't think of his name) calling for all citizens to go back to Zim to help pull things back together again. Then they showed masses of people clutching on to their last worldly possessions while sleeping on the floor somewhere in SA . I mean really, where is the logic? Put a raving-mad chimpanzee at the helm ‘til the country lies in ruins and when things are looking a little bleak (for the top dogs), stick some douche in a suit in front of the camera, get him to spout some iffy clap-trap about the people making the country a better place and then scratch some heads as to why nobody takes the bait. And then they come out with this little stroke of genius. Fantastic. :rolleyes: Also, as per the stock-standard usual, SA will do and say absolutely zip.

Robber Mugarbage, you have a spot reserved for you right next to Adolf along with a white-hot poker with your name all over it (and it’s NOT to stoke the big man’s coals either).

Problem is .. THEY ALSO DO NOT WANT THE PIECE OF RUBBISH ACTING LIKE HE IS AN HUMAN BEING!

Rather like the report recently of the human goat that were born, mostly goat it died within minutes, Mugabe was mostly human but alas did not die at all. How strange!
