PE could run out of water before World Cup

This is sad. And yes it is due to no rain. But we have known this for months, why only now?!

U guys can have some of our water from Durban, we have too much, it rains constantly here....

looks like municipal incompetence is largely to blame again. Dams down here are around 80%+.

Do you deliver? :D

Sorry Natal sends it's water to Gauteng...:p

I Wish I could send you. We in jhb also have plenty and the states also have more than they need.

I think it was compounded by a lack of rain.

How is it the municipalities fault that there is no rain? I mean they are an incompetent lot but what could they have done, called for Modjadji to do a rain dance or something?

Where is the rain forecasted for today????
Tell me about it. We did have a few drops yesterday though.

Lets be fair - they could kicked things into gear sooner and relaxed restrictions if/when the rains came.

Don't joke.. they believe it. My parents come from that valley and the prevoius one tried to run away with her chid and the other one died of ribbon flue so people that believe in that do think they are cursed..

tell me. Is that not a winter rainfall area?
Allegedly.

EDIT - since I've been in the area there have been major floods every three years so I think we're about due. That of course brings about major chaos esp since they're only just finishing the repairs from the last time.

Did I say it was their fault there was no rain? Wait what are there carbon footprints :D

The board has accused the municipality of drawing way over its daily water allocation from the now critically low Loerie Dam and placing the city’s water supply in jeopardy

Given their history....

Seems the mismanagement has resulted in the city's supply being in jeopardy. Don't blame the lack of rain if the reserves are wasted by the municipality. Obviously there's been a severe drought and dam levels are low there.

What did they do in the last 100 years or so when there wasn't much rain?
You'd need to go back further to ask since this is reported to be the worst drought in 150 years and I dont think they were looking at the world cup looming on the horizon. :o
