Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe on Wednesday defended his government's drive to transfer majority control of foreign-owned firms to local black Zimbabweans, saying wise investors would continue to put money into the country.

Minister of Indigenisation and Empowerment Saviour Kasukuwere, a Mugabe ally in Zimbabwe's fractious unity government, told foreign firms last week to present plans on how they would transfer 51% shareholdings to local black people within 45 days from March 1.

Mugabe rejected suggestions that implementation of an indigenisation law passed in 2007 would frighten off foreign investors, saying they could still hold large stakes in local companies.

"Forty-nine percent is a hell lot of equity; it is only the foolish ones who will say no," he told reporters. "Wise ones will take it up.
"

If 49% is a hell of a lot of equity why is it not enough for this fool ?

I see Europe has renewed sanctions, guess no one believe anything has changed. They need fresh elections and Morgan as president and prime minister (i.e. a new constitution).

The whole unity government is a sham, and is proven as such. Morgan have no real power currently, and Bob is just ignoring everybody like always.

I wonder what they would do if I as a country presented a plan on how I plan on transferring the ownership, by shipping all the equipment out of the country and closing the company.

you can go .......

but your money and assets should not go.

invest in zim, same as in BLACKHOLE .................. :D

One wonders when SA will go the same way?
Scary stuff and the rest of the world just does nothing.
I can see all the white people in SA slowly pooling themselves to the Western Cape and having to abandon everything elsewhere to the native's who are getting "gatvol" of empty promises and will soon want to take by force "affirmatively" what they think is theirs.

And the rest of the world will watch and condemn but do very little to stop it.

Just being a good socialist.

This is a great intellectual who knows what he is doing..

According to University of Massachusetts....

"Your gentle firmness in the face of anger, and your intellectual approach to matters which inflame the emotions of others, are hallmarks of your quiet integrity," a copy of the program reads. "We salute you for your enduring and effective translation of a moral ethic into a strong, popular voice for freedom."
