Does anyone know when the A380 will be back in OR Tambo and time?

I missed it coming to land yesterday ( 18/02/2010 ) It must have been a lovely site from Bartlett.

thanks

So when is one due to arrive here Alf :p

Can CT international take A380s?

Well, it's the A380's designated alternate when it can't land in Johannesburg. But if the apron can't take the weight, what do they do, just park on the runway until they can takeoff again?.

alf101, are you certain the aprons haven't been strengthened yet, as it makes no sense to do the runway, but not the aprons?.

ah, thanks alf101 had read somewhere that they had done the runways at both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Boeing has the curves, and remains my favourite, but this is a technological beast:

Must see how this compares, technology-wise, to the 747-8

afaik (can't find the wiki article now) the A380 will only land in JNB not CPT though they might have changed it.

Nah, I think Boeing has been left behind now in the "Jumbo Jet" league. The A380 is a master piece I think. Would love to see one for real. The 747-8 looks basically the same as the old version, except its ass has been stretched a little to seat a few more passengers (yawn).

I am just scared for the day that a A380 that has been configured in a all economy seating plan crashes. Can you imagine what a loss of life that could be in a single plane crash? yikes.

It really makes me happy there are anoraks that are as interested in this megaplane landing locally as I am. Now I just need one to pitch up at the new airport in Dbn :D
