What is the cheapest way to "dial" to a cellphone ?

Looking for a solution , business makes about R 5000 worth of cell phone calls . Looking for the cheapest solution ie Premicell , fnb , vox , etc etc
 
Premicell is the most logical route as you can get a business "per-second" billing contract. If going this route regardless of solution, would it not be best to speak to your PABX agent?
 
A premicell on a talk 500 gives me a call at R1.66 for the 1st 500 minutes and then at 1.43 per minute (I know there is an additional benefit as it is charged per second . Vox is around R 1.04 but I am still looking for an even cheaper option ?? . Anyone have any other suggestions ???
 
FNB Connect 99c to all local operators.
 
Switch Telecom - w.e.f. 1 March (i.e. a few days away), R1.20 (R1.05+VAT) per min on 60/30 billing, or, R1.48 (R1.30+VAT) per min on pure per-second billing.

NB. With Switch Telecom, all calls are routed through official interconnect, so Caller ID will be presented correctly and call quality is guaranteed. This is particularly important as you don't want people ignoring calls because they say "Private Number" or not getting back to you because they can't see who called.

Premicells are no longer worthwhile since mobile tariffs dropped. With a premicell you have to commit to at least R500 per month per line billing in advance and you'll pay more than the quoted rate for off-network calls. By comparison, with a VoIP solution, you can get multiple lines (avoiding overflow of calls to Telkom) with zero monthly call spend commitment and post-paid billing for only as much as you actually use. You may think you have the volume, but remember that months like December may be quieter than normal; too many premicells and you'll over-pay; too few and you won't get the full savings.

Also with VoIP, you will save to ALL MOBILE networks, not just the network providing the SIM card in your premicell, and, you will save not just on Mobile calls but on land-lines as well.
E.g. With Switch you'll save ~14% on local calls and ~34% on national calls (including 086 numbers).

NB. VoIP is on month-by-month contract; premicell is a 2-year contract.

Finally, keep in mind that with VoIP, if you have a 3G or iBurst or Neotel router on standby, you'll have a fully usable backup service (with both inbound and outbound) in the event of your Telkom lines going down. Just one quick fax to Telkom and they'll call forward your faulty lines to the VoIP number while you're waiting for a technician to repair the Telkom line.

I would be hesitant breaking out on a international proxy then routing back to ZA due to latency. If you do decide to go this route, please report back to the forums.

Imagine offers GSM calls for R1.05 ex VAT with PER SECOND BILLING.

Check out www.91cent.com. They offer Vodacom sim card that is programmed to charge only 90cent a minute. This is strictly prepaid. They offer this sim card at R695, but are running a special offer of R420. It comes with R150 airtime that gives you 167 anytime minute irrespective of the network you phone. I am on this myself.

I also use Switch Telecom and can vote for them, never had any hassles and their pricing is very good.

Betamax strike again, I use them for international calling, but find (or at least did when I last tried) that calling ZA tends to be a hit and miss story. We call Italy and the UK frequenty using one of their "companies", 12 voip I think at the moment. Works flawlessly.

Awesome I will take them into consideration on Monday. Me personally I try to balance expectation with user experience. i.e. cheapest may not be the best. In my ITSP, I have setup a elaborate system that monitors each call and will divert to incrementally more pricey carrier, this is transparent to the user and we carry the cost. The system will revert when quality allows. :)

Please note I didn't punt my ITSP. Word of mouth is the way to go, not the forum spam that is the order of the day here. :whistle:
