"Telkom CEO Sizwe Nxasana – who is due to step down at the end of the year – said that the growth of high-speed Internet connections through asymmetrical digital subscriber lines (ADSL) has caused the “cannibalisation of voice revenues”, and that the company will be feeling the pressure on margins."

Well, they are certainly not feeling the pressure too much: "operating profit was up 21% to R11,2-bn"

effectively doing more with less." says Sizwe.

This is outstanding - well done telkom - we salute our heroes.

2006 and only a .2% rise in tariffs ? - incredible in our fiercely competitive telecomms industry.

I am so pleased I chose telkom as my fixed line telephony provider -
I would not consider anyone else.

Yes well remember that there is the slightest chance that they will get some competition soon (here's hoping and praying), and they need to start sucking up to their customers so that they don't loose them all in one go. Hope SNO will be able to handle the demand once (if ever) they start up :)
 
The mere fact that Sizwe is leaving Telkom indicates their honeymoon period is over, and its time to abuse them like they have done us since 1997.

Roll on SNO, we're behind u all the way.
