Noktor announced a 50mm f/0.95 lens.

It's for 4/3 only, and has no AF, which leaves me wondering how useful this is. I find it difficult enough with the size of APS-C viewfinders without the aid of a micro/split prism. I find it difficult enough to see what I'm doing with the 4/3 cameras - not sure I'd be able to pull off manual focus at f/0.95 on one of those! :erm:

I almost got a heart attack when I saw the thread title... thought CaNikon were releasing a new 50mm

Pity micro 4/3'rds isn't an open standard :(

I see on the website www.noktor.com they have a survey for which to develop next. Canon leading a bit and then Nikon in second place.

I'm not surprised, but I wouldn't buy something like that, even if I was loaded. As much as I like fast glass, I'm not a great shallow DOF fan and f/1.4 is quite enough for me on a 50mm lens. The other issue is size. At 480g for the micro-4/3 version, can you imagine how huge it would be for 35mm? The Canon 50mm f/1.0 L is as big as the 85mm f/1.2 L (in fact, it's the same barrel) - it's huge! And not particularly sharp.
