LG tops Euro 3G handset market during 1st quarter

Korea's second-largest electronics is targeting global sales of 70 million handsets this year, with third-generation WCDMA phones accounting for 10 million.

"LG Electronics is extending its lead in the world's WCDMA mobile-phone market, after supplying more than 4 million units last year. We plan to strengthen our market position by developing and distributing HSDPA-enabled handsets in Europe by the latter half of the year," said Park Mun-hwa, chief executive of LG Electronics' mobile communications division, in a statement.
