Photozone just published their review of the 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM. As they've reviewed the 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM earlier, we're able to compare the two both tested on the 5DmkII.

I must say, the non-L looks about as good, if not fractionally better than the L lens. If you don't care about the red line or IS, then this is definitely a steal.
 
I'm not much into Macro, but I have heard that they're both excellent portrait lenses, probably because if the quality of bokeh. I'd love to see how the two compare in terms of colour rendition and contrast. The samples they have aren't really comparable.

I'm also wondering how they both compare to the 100mm f/2.0 USM. On their 8MP APS-C test of the latter, it looked excellent.
 
I love my 100mm 2.8. I did a little portrait shoot for a friend and the shots from the lens was awesome. Its also a really nice macro. I even messed around adding a TC to it (so there is more working distance for macro shots) and it worked beautifully. While IS would be cool, at the price difference, I would stick with the non IS.
