Seriously, I've had a two site surveys in a year, and nobody besides the rather expensive iBurst has any reception here. There are two major schools in the area, and it's a stone's throw from UCT and lots of student residentials.

I'm dyin' here.

Errrm: You should have great signal to the AP "UCT" .... lol
thats a uninet AP ... you try them out??

I don't have LoS to UCT, but I called Uninet anyway, and they're making a plan. I'll hear tomorrow.

Pending the installation of a (massive) aerial, my house might become a hotspot.

Cape Town loaded with Wireless Internet

Wireless ISPs in Cape Town bigger area

LOADS AND LOADS of WISPs are in CT!!!

Just stand on top of your roof and switch on your wireless laptop and take a look on your wireless list which WISP is nearest.
WinXP: Start> All programs> Accessor. > Communications> NEtowrk Connections> Double-clicik Wireless Area Network.
Do a "Search area" and TADA! In CT alone you'll pick at least 2 WISPs and 10 neighbours...
EMail [email protected] and ask him who those WISPs are. Some are expensive but some are WAY cheaper than cable adsl.
64k uncapped! (same as ISDN) Sound cool?
Free signal test within 2 weeks, Installation within 2 or 3 weeks.

(Reception is 100% in Vredehoek adn Observatory but not sure about UCT, I haven;t done a check there...)
But Obs is VERY close to UCT.
