Can someone recommend a great m/b (64 bit) and a Graphics card to go with it ?

Thanks

Craig

What is your budget?

Well I think the ASUS Nforce 4 SLI board is good and get a Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample with it. The Golden sample cards run at higher speeds and use selected GPU's to do this. They also have better ram on the card. I just couldn't get gainward in Dubai otherwise I would have had one. :(

Gigabyte sli with the dual core gigabyte 6600gt. They are bundled together. Not 100% wot performance is like though but I imagine its pretty good.

You can't go wrong with Asus, have used their motherboards for the past 10 years and they've all been fast and rock solid.

As for the 6800GT I run mine at ultra speeds with no problems and from what I've read most manufacturer's 6800GT's can reach ultra speeds just fine. You won't get much extra out of a golden sample except the warranty.

jjtoymachine, your'e asking for "Socket 939, SLI, and onboard VGA". Doesn't exist, therefor little responses ;)
actual i have found one by the manufactor tomcat that i cat get in this country :p

well just get get a gigabyte board with sata then get a sata hdd 40% increase. i would try and get the 6800 LE not much more than 6600gt but way better

Thanks guys i appreciate it. Any idea on price on the Asus and Nvidia card ?

For a good idea of prices, hit computersonly.co.za. I'm biased since I buy most of my hardware there, but I like dealing with those guys. Might be more expensive than the dealers, but that's my choice :D

Stay away from MSI SLI board IF you are going to buy a Leadtek 6800GT I made that mistake. Both are great but you can't go SLI later cos the Leadtek Cards are too BIG :( They fit ASUS boards fine though. The Golden Sample Cards are some of the best cards you can buy plus everytime I got one(I have had 2) they have been cheaper than the standard cards from other manafacturers. The 5900 Ultra was also a single slot card instead of 2 slots.

Craig if you can't find the Gainward cards you can check in Centurion. Centurion Tech will have them or be able to get them. Know it is a bit far for you.

Just an FYI with the Asus. They have had an issue with the chipset fan. I know because my mine failed and after some google found out Asus know about the problem. Just has my MB exchanged and informed the distro of the problem. He has contacted Asus and they are sending him a shipment of replacement fans. Hoping to get mine replaced soon. :D

Other than that the board has been rock solid as was my previous Asus board. keen to clock my 6800GT to Ultra but I am scared I will void the warranty, not something to be taken lightly considering what I paid for it.

Yep thats why you should buy Gainward Golden Sample!! :D I will always love the Golden Sample cards, best money can buy. The problem is they are not that popular in SA and therefore sometimes hard to find. :(
