Hey Guys

I am a Web Africa client and have been using their forums to find out how the steam contenet server is going and for things like that. I noticed yesterday that a user had posted the Mweb pricing and asked them what they thought of it.

To no surprise Web Africa started Ranting that this was not sustainable and made it sound yet again that they were going to be the only ISP around in a few months time because uncapped at that prices is unsustainable!

I cant remember what I said but I said something like:
What I could have said said:
" Web Africa need to change their strategy fast before they lose any more customers. WA must stop saying other service providers packages are unsustainable and wont work. These ISP's are also bussinesses and are not just going to bring somthing out that is unsastanible.

I have come to the conclusion that Web Africa are in heavy debt or about to go into bankruptcy and because of this they are trying to keep prices high...Well Web africa if you dont do somthing fast YOU ARE ALL GOING TO LOSE YOUR JOBS

Stop treating your clients like kids and stop bad mouthing other ISP's"
Then I said

"Telkom is also releasing uncapped soon, wonder what they'll provide and for how much. Seeing as though if Telkom releases uncapped, surely it must be sustainable?
Lets be honest though telkom really don't need to be competitive because the stupid people(the users web Africa thinks they have as customers BUT DONT) wont move!

Web Africa think they have the same clients as Telkom...you know the ones that dont know much about internet and that think the 3GB is included in the line price!

I have asked Web Africa to send all the comments I posted that they deleted to me so I can review them but they have not responded! If you go onto the forum you can just see a list of comments that they have removed. Look at screen shot here

I am sometimes a trouble causer but I believe I stayed within their terms and conditions and just highlighted what I believe is the truth! I first got warned and all my posts were deleted so I posted my warning on the forum to show their other clients that there is no freedom of speach and then I got banned!

Here is the Warning I received from Daniel Hendler their Quality Assurance Manager?!?!

Hi Edwin Watson

I have deleted your above post.

As per our forum rules (http://forums.webafrica.co.za/_f22.html), we are all for constructive criticism but we do not accept unconstructive negativity directed at Web Africa, this completely detours from the positive environment that the forums are intended for.

Web Africa provides these Forums as a service to its subscribers, to provide a friendly, positive environment, where users can help each other and exchange ideas, tips, information, and techniques related to server hosting.

Your account will be banned from the forums after 3 warnings.

We appreciate your understanding.

I understand that you do not want unconstructive negativity on a forum but what I was posting I was only posting for Web Africa to catch a wake up....

Its really sad to see Web Africa go to the dogs like it has! It seams Web Africa and Mweb have swapped seats!

I really don't want to see Web Africa fail because they don't want to compete with the other ISP's :(

Sorry dude, but if you post a private message warning from a forum staff member publicly you deserve to be banned.

It does seem that they aren't even willing to try and compete and are relying on their customers ignorance at the moment.

I agree with you Rodent however I removed why I was banned and just wanted to show the other users that they were reading a topic that was being monitored and posts were being removed :P

It amazes me how we are allowed to rip Web Africa to threads on mybb and they come on here and act like they listening but on their own forum they don't even want to listen to their clients! But I suppose they cant really send us all warnings here can they :P

Web Africa has so much potential in the ISP space to shine....but their light is dimming fast and will go out soon if they don't change it :D

Private message systems are just that: PRIVATE. If you want to take it public then be prepared for the forum staff deal with it as publicly as they see fit. In this case a ban. I would do exactly the same.

You needed to publicise a PM to show other members that forum staff were reading and monitoring a topic? What else are moderators there for? Of course the staff is reading and monitoring topics. If this is news to you you really have a lot to learn about forums.

Never post private chats in open - that's asking for trouble and if you do - dont mention names.
What happens in private, stays in private.

If u ever take a fight to someone, you need to do it in a certain way - I don't think you did this very well (from your posts)

NONSENSE.

That forum is for WebAfrica users ie CUSTOMERS. They pay for it. He doesn't owe them anything.
This is akin to some manager at Woolworths throwing you out of the store because you told a fellow customer he told you to shut up (which he did).

Thanks for letting me know what sort of idiots operate at Web Africa - I'll avoid them. Primitive low life behaviour dictating to paying customers. They could have censored his posts and left it at that and been polite and said that policy issues are not discussed, etc.

I would cancel my account and advise all my friends to cancel too. Avoid these clowns they treat customers like manure. They don't deserve to survive.

I have got to admit that Now that I look at it I can see why they banned me!

The point was at the end of the day I just wanted Web Africa to catch a wakeup,I had just read a topic of users asking the what their response was as well as other clients saying they are leaving which had got me really frustrated!

I am sorry I posted the Private message now but I am not sorry for what I said which got me the warning.

So if Mr Smith of Mweb support tells me X I am not allowed to tell that to his supervisor or the community?

gdiza, don't confuse a forum like this one, where we're not customers to a customer centric support forum. He is allowed to post everything he wants as long as its not illegal under law. Web Africa should be sued, but since that's not feasible bad publicity is good. I wouldn't put up with such primitive behaviour - also look at how that PM was worded.

You did right in posting that PM. That was a customer forum where YOU are the boss. Here on MyADSL we don't pay loads of cash to rpm so we follow his rules but if I ran a customer forum I would not ban anyone for posting concerns. I'd ban them if they were harassing others or staff or posting illegal stuff (warez etc) but not otherwise.

...thanks for the laugh.

(it is their forum "their little world" that you have disrupted, let them do what they wish - surely it doesn’t affect you)

"Unconstructive negativity" directed at "The Great Unsustainable".

You should have known better, than to dare mention anything about the powers of the "Uncapped" in the very sanctuary these dark followers of "The Great Unsustainable" pray... :p

Lightscribe, there are two distinct issues here. The first is the pricing discussion, which, if done maturely, should certainly have been allowed. I think we're all in agreement that WA's party line about unsustainability is, well, unsustainable.

The second issue is posting PMs publicly. In my opinion, and with all due respect to PeterCH, that is unacceptable (unless mutually agreed by both parties in the PM involved).

I agree that Private PM's should not be posted but I think its unfair how the OP got banned!
I have an account with WA and I will not top it up at their current pricing. Ive got a Telkom Account, Webafrica Account, Afrihost Account, Axxess account and now the Mweb 4meg uncapped account.
Why on earth would I top up with them if all the other ISP's that i use are cheaper???

All he wanted to know what is going to be done aand as a WA client id like to know too!

So if you go to Woolworths and the salesman there tells you something YOU MAY NOT REPEAT it elsewhere? Assuming it was business related of course.
If you do, Woolworths has the right to kick you out of their stores.

I totally disagree with you. This is no different to my Woolworths example. Imagine if Woolworths banned customers for posting on HelloPeter or here or whenever someone moaned about their shopping experience there. That forum is a customer support forum and as such banning a user is denying him a functionality he is paying for. IT IS THEFT. Web Africa are a failure and no better than obnoxious Multichoice mods who act arrogantly on DSTV forums.

Secondly who died and made that mod into a god. The CEO should know about the twit who answered this poster. Certainly, I'm happy I know - heck I may email WebAfrica and rub it in their faces.
