What speeds do you get now that uncapped is here?

I use Axxess uncapped, Mweb uncapped, Afrihost capped and Gconnect pay as you go.

Before Mweb launched their uncapped offering I was downloading at 430kb/s - 460kb/s on Telkom, Gconnect and Afrihost.

However, lately I am lucky if I download at anything more than 210kb/s. Avg seems to be 180kb/s - 210 kb/s (non - peak hours) - this is even on Afrihost.


What do you guys get?
 
I use Mweb uncapped and get 420KB/s after hours on newsgroups

Full speed http all hours
 
450 KBps (newsgroups)

Simple things have slowed drastically, however. Uploading via FTP is pitiful. Downloading FF updates is a joke.
 
I haven't had any kind of sustained slow down on Axxess Express and Afrihost uncapped. I've used Afrihost during work hours only, though. I mostly download via Astraweb nntp, and I haven't seen any noticeable shaping or congestion.

I wonder if it might be because of my location. Maybe some of the urban infrastructure is taking strain with all the new uncapped users coming on line.

But IS and MWeb are huge companies and as the uptake increases and revenue increases so will the provision of bandwidth. I can foresee a lot of dark fibre lighting up over the next few months.

With Telkom also due to join the party, uncapped is here to stay and QoS is going to become the deciding factor between services, so I'm pretty sure the providers will be keen to iron out all the kinks.

I hope the MyBB Broadband Survey gets into testing mode over the next few months. It would be good see a more scientific assessment of the various offerings, rather than the hubbub of mass hysteria that the ADSL ISP forum has lately become.
 
With Mweb, full speed (420Kb) 24/7 so far although I only signed up on Friday! ^.^
 
I take it these are all subscription news servers?
 
I have a 4mbps line from telkom and have signed up for the mweb 512k uncapped account. My download speed on newsgroups is maxed out at 25k for cached files.... is this correct?...
