I'd like immediate clarification on the following please:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...low-Uncapped&p=3750584&viewfull=1#post3750584

We have also been advised of the following via our server-admin.

"The Afrihost uncapped solutions are designed to give great results for the first 60GB of usage, but after that Afrihost will shape or throttle the service to protect other users on the network. You will still be able to use your account and it will never be capped, but it will not be as fast as our capped accounts at that point. Our capped accounts are designed for users who require continuous downloads 24 hours a day. The uncapped service is relatively new and we will be looking at how we can improve these thresholds as more clients join our network.
Have a great day & please feel free to let me know if I can be of further assistance.

If this is true, I would like my account cancelled with IMMEDIATE effect - I will have no use for your service in April.

If it is not true - I'd like comment as to why multiple members on the 4MB lines are experiencing EXTREMELY degraded service.

I'm paying for 4MB UNCAPPED - which claimed using HUNDREDS of GBs was abuse - 60GB does not even break 100GB.

If I do not have a response to this, or my support ticket end of business tomorrow, I will call to cancel my account.

EDIT: I have PM'd the following people asking for a response in this thread:
Afrihost-Gian; Afrihost-Moshe; Afrihost.com

Well if they throttle it to slowing speeds they must charge quarter of the price, seriously AH your business model is completely retarded. You cant offer this service and now say you wont achieve those speeds. False advertising much?

That's not good at all. I am glad I am waiting and thank you everyone who finding out all this the hard way.

If they can't give us an amount and above that is considered abuse, then I will assume that 37.5GB I've used since moving to uncapped is within that limit - and I'll cancel my account - as that is not uncapped.

try email Moshe... he was pretty quick in answering questions i emailed him...

Like i said in the other thread. This is probably a good thing.

Its better than being throttled from the first byte. People should hold off judgment till we know how much throttling will be applied after the first 60 gigs.

Like i said in the other thread, the throttling is already in progress. I'm over 60gb and my speeds are below 15kb/s on a 4mbit line.

No dude this is dodgy, first it is 200gb now 60gb? Massive problems with torrents and news servers. Glad i went with mweb atleast my 4 meg line is running fast and nzb's going at 330 at night.

If you're happy with it being a good thing - then I'm happy for you - but they need to be upfront - so we can make decisions on whether we accept it - I've only used 37.5GB on the uncapped 4MB thing - and I'm throttled... my Axxess account is fine.

If its 60GB or 20GB or 200GB - fine, but they need to tell us

Wow, t & c seems to chop and change on these packages. I hope my Isp doesn't treat me this way? I'm still waiting for their packages be announced.
Not cool.

:(:sick::confused:

as one who is throttled, i can say a LOT of throttling. Downstream rates are down to 10-40 kbps

That can't be the official shaping amount. If it is then time to change isp's. Lets see what they say.

The previous 200 gig number was the excessive usage limit (as in they might cancel your account). This is a shaping grace period, which is very different.

Agreed.

I'd like to see you reach 200gb in one month with a shaping grace period of 15kb/s

Good to know. Guess I will be joinging them at the end of April if Afrihost doesn't sort out their ****.

I'm also being throttled. Sitting on 90gigs.

I might be wrong killadoob, but was it not 200GB, then changed too hundreds of gigs and now seemingly 60GB?
I can't almost not believe this from Afrihost, if this info is indeed correct?

Its obviously not working properly yet.

xrapidx is only on 37.5GB and he is already getting dodgy speeds.

If I remember correctly it was stated as 200G first, my biggest problem is that my normal 5GB account has had latencies increase fron 300-400ms now up to 600+ms.... WTH And im not just talking about tonight, this has been happening since shortly after MWEB announced uncapped. ( Which should have no impact on Afrihost as they are on differnt networks, or are we missing something here?)

TOO BE FAIR!

Just tried a telkom account and it is even worse!!! Maybe the last mile is .... not coping.
