heard the following on the breeze this afternoon...

there is a high probability that there will be a general cabinet reshuffle at the time that pres mbeki makes the new deputy president known. one of the positions that is up for change is communications where the current minister has for some time let the president know that she does not wish to continue in her position

the birds also say that the pres has maintained that the current minister may depart her position once the SNO is up and running - after some years this now appears to have a reasonable chance of happening in the next 3 months ("it is imminent :)")

a passing lizard noted that the dep pres and cabinet announcement may be as soon as tomorrow - if the current minister is not redeployed or '"released" at this stage it will in all likelihood happen in the middle of the current presidential term which is in about 12 months

so...as you lay your sweet head down to rest say a few prayers and make some wishes, your dreams may come true

Yay, Poison Ivy was really simple, I hope we get someone with some integrety and intelligence this time around.... but that might be a little to much to ask for I think.

Common Mbeki... Zimbabwe and Telkom, sort those two out and I will vote ANC

If Ivy leaves South Africa will party!

my information is that she wants to leave and that is a matter of when and not if

if she wants 2 leave, that might b y she did everything wrong :) .. she wanted to get fired. Now i hope that they can find someone with some morals. So if this does happen we definitely need to throw a celebration ... and the media to cover it;)

coincidence

she plans on leaving just as the SNO decides to rock up, guess her friends wont be getting any large dividends once that happens, so no point in her sticking around trying to make some money for the family. she knows its all downhill from here.
so ivy dont go, fSCK OFF

Her legacy ?

The delay of the SNO by THREE YEARS !

You forgot:
1) The consistent misleading statements,
2) The Cell C debacle,
3) The new price cap regime controversies and her total refusal to do her job,
4) The dramatically escalating telecoms prices under her Ministership,
5) The failures of the Universal Services Agency,
6) The utter c0ck-up that has been the USAL licencing,
7) The dramatic slide of SA in terms of internet connectivity under her watch,
8) The poor relationship between ICASA and the DoC due mostly to her
9) The failure to achieve the goals of the Telecoms White Paper and 1996 Act under her watch...

The list goes on and on!!

Yeh its insane. Hopefully they pick someone who actually knows what they're doing this time.. Pete has said that as soon as the electric pencil sharpener is out of Ivy's office he will be more than willing to take over her position.

although he has a warped sense of humour we can be sure that pete won't go against the grain and will tell teklom to get knotted

Heehee, dominic - talk about a warped sense of humour!
Anyway, jokes aside - between Shope-Mafole and Padayachee, they have between them the competency to make a difference, provided they're given the authority to do so. My fear is that whatsoever deployment occurs, they may be sidelined - that would really be disastrous. On the other hand, we may end up with a real cracker-jack type - my problem is that there are no indications of anybody who really fits the bill ('scuse inadvertent pun)...

 perhaps it's really a battery operated device not intended for sharpening pencils...

Yay Pete I will be sending a letter of recommendation for your appointment through to the prez...:D

Anyways I will believe it when it happens......but thanks Dominic you have laid the foundations of my sweet dreams for tonight - when I get some sleep that is...:)

I can see it now. Zuma - new communications minister.

Just because the crap is going out the door, doesn't mean that the next pile of crap will be any less useless.
