I got the office a 4 Mb/s uncapped account from Axxess.

Yesterday I did less than 400kb/s - all web downloads were rediculously slow.

The response from Axxess:

Hi there the reason that there is a speed difference is that this is a shapped account and it prioratises ports

Avoid them like the plague!

depends what you downloading!! if you trying to download torrents or newshost during the middle of the day... it will be slow... if you trying to download HTTP or FTP it should be decent...

ok.

1. There is a topic and everyone is complaining. I gave my account away cause its so slow.
2. Do you mean 400kb in total downloaded/uploaded? Cause if you get just less than 400kb/s then its quite decent.

I am on 384 account, my normal download speed is between 5 and 11 kb/s, which includes surfing, http download etc.
Pings are not stable, sometimes I get 330 ms between google.com and sometimes I get over 4000ms.
Torrents/newservers are non-exesiting.

The only good time on speeds is between 8pm and 6am. It seems that only a few people are getting a good deal, and the rest have to settle for crap internet.

I'm getting anything between 30-60kB/s on a 4meg line speed on news servers, with plenty of outs - even in the evening. There are spikes, but not sustained and not more than 150kB/s. Http during the day is great, but the rest completely sucks. I completely understand shaping in the day, but during evenings? I understand that this product will inherently be somewhat hampered, but effectively relegating me to a 384 line is simply ridiculous. No way I'm staying.

I'm considering switching back to Axxess Express, but this experience has been so crap that I feel like trying out another ISP. Maybe I'll test Mweb's offering.

Through all the hype of the "new" uncapped services that were launched, I decided to stay on my express + package from Axxess. As far as I am concerned you get what you pay for - my service has stayed the same. It is still one of the best out there - my 2c worth!! Maybe you should have done the same. :erm:

Yes, we get what we pay for, but we will get better deals elsewhere for same value

Not really. I pay half of what the Express cost and I'm getting 20% value. :erm:

That's the beauty of being able to switch so easily. I figured what the hell, give it a chance. It's not mission critical or anything. Irritates the sh|t out of me though, very weak product.

I was on Axxess-Express and moved to Mweb. I couldn't be happier. Half the price, great after hours speeds on p2p/newsgroups, but above all I get fast, usable internet during the day which you just don't get on Axxess-Express.

My only problem is if these "new" services are going to stay the same in a few months down the line? I think it is still early days and at the end only time will tell. From what I have read on the forum I am starting to see the alarm bells ringing. Most people already stated that the service is not what they expected. (slow speeds and throttling)
I am prepared to pay "top dollar" for a good quality service. As the saying goes - The grass is always greener on the other side - because of all the *****!! :)

Exactly what I was hoping to get!

*sigh* Maybe I'll try out Mweb. Next thing I'll start shopping at Incredible [-]Corruption[/-] Connection also...:p

Well, I bought a very nice Logitech keyboard at Incredi....... oh wait!

I was thinking about it, and wondered why I went Axxess in the 1st place. Then I checked out their site again to see if there was something there helping me with my choice. And there it was, mislead information.. .well thats how I read it atleast.

5. No Rolling Thresholds / No rate limiting.

Am I understanding this wrong or is this false advertising?
