Replacing HP laptop heatsink fan....

Could someone please explain to me why one have to virtually take your entire laptop apart to just change the fan? surely the fan need to be replaced/cleaned almost more often than the battery needs to be taken out? why then can you unclip the battery, but have to take out virtually every single part before you get to the fan!

Most Acers and Dells you need to simply take a few screws out and then u get to the fan....
 
Because HP laptops are the worst in the world. Ask me I have one thats a doorstopper. Just check out youtube and you will see the horrrrorrr stories
of people that have HP laptops. Don't buy HP laptops, EVER!!!!
 
i've had a hp before, had same problem. thought 'its an old laptop, i'm sure the new ones is better'.... guess not... so i learn. anyone want to buy a doorstop ?
 
I have the same problem with my Sony VGN SZ38.

Easy to replace the CPU, which I have done, but the FAN !!!

Major bummer !!!

Yes, because the other manufacturers never have any problems either :confused:

Anyway, when you have such a small form factor space is always going to be an issue, so they have to give up a thing or two such as ease of access. Its just one of those things.

so if space is a problem, its more reason to make it so that the parts that need to be replaced regularly can be easily accessed. how often do i need to replace the USB board? or the harddrive? much less than the fan, most of the time only for upgrades, which rarely happens also on laptops really. but all fans eventually get noisy or dirty.... and they can at least then offer free labour on replacing the fans, if they are incapable to make it easy to swop by yourself....
 
Compressed air should be able to easily get the dust out without needing to take anything apart. And the fan is not an unreliable part, dont see why it would need replacing more than anything else.

i agree.... but should've and would've is in both your sentences..... fact is that compressed air works for a day or 2.... and it only seems to be required on HP Laptops, i have a old IBM laptop here that is dead quiet and its years old by now. the fan is a moving part, moving tend to be more unreliable than say memory chips. its job is to blow air, air contains dust. dust makes fans not turn like they should. bottom line is, 2 out ofr 3 of my hp's has same problem. no other laptops i have or know of gives the same problem as what HP's do. so yes maybe the problem is not that you can not take the fan out, its that the fan is bad quality? either way.... they wont change it, so guess i'll just move to new make next time to at least experience new problems :)
