"Ninety-eight per cent of the population of the developed world is going to be highly wired. We do not think that fixed wireless for the last mile makes a lot of sense," Giancarlo told vnunet.com at Cisco's annual Networkers 2005 user conference.

"Wired technologies are already highly deployed. We do not believe there is a good business model [for WiMax]."

Having followed Cisco for years, one thing is becoming clear:
This is a company that has in recent times got it almost 100% wrong 100% of the time.

Problem is that Cisco lacks a good business model for itself.
(The Chinese, mostly in the form of companies like Huawei, are currently ripping their market share to pieces).
This is something that will only get worse when Wireless technologies take off.
(BT also recently signed a massive deal with Huawei, this to supply
access nodes and optical transmission equipment for their next generation network).
