Is it possible to digitize my current/old books into a Kindle?

I have quite a number of books at the moment, I haven't read a few of them yet and I would like to digitize them so that they are all in a Kindle. I don't have the Kindle yet, but I'm planning to buy it soon. Is it possible to somehow digitize them? What I mean is, is it possible to swap "Eat Your Heart Out by Felicity Lawrence" (for example) book for a digital one?
