No potholes in Western Cape?

Is this true?
I read this today in the Beeld. The Beeld claims that there are no potholes in the entire Western Cape.
 
No way. I've driven on Wcape roads and they're just as crap as Joburg roads. Only even narrower in some places.
 
It is almost undoubtedly untrue (especially since the winter rains haven't started :) ) but I must admit that on the routes I travel I never see any.

But do they have potholes?

Big ones, like in swallowing an entire bus? Granted: one at a time!

There are no potholes in the Cape... GodZILLE renamed them to dongas to fix the issue
 
There really aren't any potholes in the areas that I driver - sure you'll come across on every now and then (especially in winter, with heavy rains) but they seam to be fixed quite quickly. Some of the raods could definitely do with an upgrade though, but they aren't dangerous.
 
We don't have any in our town at the moment, but as mentioned before, winter is upon us.
 
None on the routes i use. Road between Melkbos & Blouberg gets a few during winter but normally patched up a day or two later.
 
Of course we have potholes.

We may have slightly fewer than elsewhere but we definitely have them.

Government will finally start a road maintenance fund, as suggested by the DA, so more funds will go directly into road maintenance, as previously they were used where it was felt necessary by cities.
 
JHB roads are definitely worse... Don't particularly remember having a problem with potholes from when I lived in CT. In JHB there's a lot of very patchy/rough roads, and some very big potholes.
 
I always though that your licencing fee is supposed to be used for road maint, or is this now for the graivey train pockets?
And then what is all our petrol tax being used for?
 
Very few potholes in the South Cape tbh - they're always tended to in due time.
Unfortunately, the repairs often don't last very long..
 
Well 10yrs ago when I moved from the Caper to Pretoria, I thought a pothole was no bigger than coke can.

When my bakkie and trailer got swallowed by a pothole outside Kriel did I discover what a pothole really meant.

Back down in the Cape, I've forgotten how bad a true pothole can be.
