Do ISPs (such as mweb) have a record of what sites you have visited/things you have downloaded (torrents etc)?

No. MWEB does not monitor the Internet traffic of our customers in such detail. Besides being a privacy violation, the hardware required to monitor data traffic that closely and store the terabytes of data generated would be prohibitive. That said, we strongly recommend that you install your own monitoring software in the form of Internet security software and a software and/or hardware firewall - particularly if you have a broadband connection or if you operate on an unsecured server-based network.
Im checking because im too scared to download torrents... The disclaimer on the MWeb adsl account makes me reconsider the downloading...

In SA they dont, Why ? Cause it costs waaaaay to much!
In NL, DE, UK, BE they are sort of required by law just not too sure on the compliance.. I mean in NL alone they have exchange traffic like below..
No go and do the math on what kind of storage you will need to accommodate such a project, who's gonna pay for it ? Who is gonna manage it ?
prices of internet will skyrocket as the ROI on this will suck big time!

In The Netherlands it is your constitutional right to have internet connectivity, even if you get nabbed for pirating, downloading and severe abuse they are by law not allowed to cut you off! better yet, If you are jobless, the government pays for your connection
