Hey guys, its upgrade time and I have been presented with a system with the following specs:

i7 920 2.6ghz
intel x58so motherboard
4gb DDR3 1333 ram
500 gig HD
GTS250 (pci-e) 512mb
Win 7 pro 64bit

for R5500?

Fair price???

ps. Not a gamer, like my media stuff so dont need a big graphics card.
 
Yeah I did ask about that and it will be possible. He will also give me 2 1TB seagates at R600 each if I choose to up it more. Could be worthwhile.

I would like more info on this deal, i need an upgrade myself. Sounds good if its true.

How about this for a quote:
HP Z400
Intel Xeon Quad Core 3.06Hz, 24GB RAM, 475W PSU, nVidia Quadro FX1800 768MB Graphics, 2x1tb HHD (SATA 7200rpm), KB and Mouse, Windows XP, 16xDVD-RW .
Price: R37k (yes, R37000)
 
Isn't the i7 920 obsolete, replaced with the 930? Maybe old stock.
 
Sounds too cheap. even cost price that system should cost around R7000.

Paid that alone for a Quadro FX3700.

But this is without graphics, OS and 2GB less RAM.

So yeah, very cheap indeed

Had a quick look at some supplier pricelists, new cpu/mobo/ram/hdd comes to over R5500, so if its coming with a ligit win7 copy.

End result. Yes its a good price :P

Yep! Everything is legit Windows 7 included! and I have the official quote! :)

I also thought it would be at least 8k for such a system, as the i3 systems bandied about on here are between 5-7k.

So it seems its a worthwhile upgrade from my AMD 3800 x2 lol
