If I have 3 laptops, can I connect all three using one Handset for my dial up?

I think it's as simple as networking the three machines on your local Fixed wire / Wifi LAN Then set up one of the machines as a gateway and configure the other two to connect thru the gateway. Your handset must be connected to the gateway notebook as a modem.

Good day

You can connect one PC to the internet using your phone as a modem and then use internet sharing off that PC.

Hi all,

The above answers are all correct, except that they are not elaborate enough.

You have to connect your laptop to your mobile phone via infrared, bluetooth, data cable (via USB), depending on which of these is available to you.

Then you installed your phone's software on your laptop. You have to select one notebook to use as a gateway. Install the software on your 'gateway laptop'.

Then go to Network Connections on your laptop, (I assume you are using Windows XP) and click on create new Internet connection. Select your phone, as modem, while following the New Connection wizard. For phone number, use *99#. Actual number would depend on your phone model. So, check with your phone's manufacturer.

Note also that you must have your phone GPRS-enabled. It could be any other data connection like CSD, EDGE or even UMTS (popularly known as 3G).

Now, connect your laptop to your phone via any of the means mentioned above. If your mobile phone line has been enabled for the service, connection would be seamless if your phone network is not congested.

I actually use my laptop a Toshiba Portege 3490CT and my mobile phone a Nokia 7250i for my daily Internet needs, via GPRS.

If you need further information, contact your service provider or phone manufacturer's website.

Good luck. :o

I forgot to add the bit about connecting the rest of the laptops.

You might have to create a Local Area Network (LAN). If it were only two laptops, to could connect the two using a 'cross-cable' but since they are three, you need to acquire a network hub, or a wi-fi hub.

Follow the manuals with which ever you choose to use.

LEt's know how it goes.

Cheers. :)
