Why do I keep getting the same dial-up number from different ISP?
First , telkom gave me 0860007249 , and when i changed to worldonline , i got the same number...and now I've moved to axxess , and they gave me the same number for dialup....How does this work?

i think they all use the same ISP (SAIX) in the end.

0860007249 is the dial-up number for any Virtual ISP making use of the SAIX network. Telkom Internet, Worldonline and Axxess are all making use of the SAIX network.

you ain't changing ISP's, just changing who you directly pay.
AFAIK There really is only three nationwide dialup ISP's in SA: UUNet, IS, SAIX

So if you use 0860007249, you are going through Saix regardless of who you pay.

7249 = SAIX on your phone's keypad btw.

Slight hijack of the thread, sorry :p

Has anyone an idea of relative Telk** costs (dialup) between using 0860.. and e.g. 012 307... numbers - straight and callmore times?

0860 numbers are always local calls, useful if you travel a lot and can't be bothered to check the local pop number. Otherwise the costs are the same.
