Neotel really don't want my business

I have been trying for weeks to apply for a Neotel account, as Telkom has yet to install lines in my area. So far it has been a very bad joke.

First, I went to Postnet and applied using the form. Told to wait 1-2 days for a response regarding my coverage. That was 2 months ago and I never recieved a call.

Last month, after waiting for ages for Neotel to call me, I called the Neotel call centre. After giving out all my details (and being told I wasn't contacted because they can't find my address on their map) I was told the internet is down, and was told that everything would be sorted out and I would be called back to finalise the details for someone to come around and have a look. Once again the call never came.

Today, I was desperate enough to make yet another call. This time the representative just seemed ready to hang up. I asked to have someone come round and test for the Prime service, since the border for coverage falls literally on across the road from my house. Nope, if it isn't on the map, they refuse to even try. The call centre person started saying goodbye before I could even ask for them to come and test the Lite. Got put through to Technical, where I sat on hold for 10 minutes before the call was disconnected.

Did anybody else have this many issues? It seems to me like Neotel are actively trying to discourage me from using their service?

Take this as a sign and run as fast as you can.
This is the kind of support you will get if you sign up.
You have been warned:wtf:

Can you get Telkom?

Unless you want to use Neotel for voice with its per second billing and dial a lot of cellphones for 2-3seconds, not worth it.

Dude....Whats Up. No offence, wake up and smell the coffee... Neotel is BAD BAD BAD...do u want migraines, summons for absolutely nuttin. Get a cellphone. You will pay for mahala.., Read the forums

I would also not suggest going for a 24 moth contract just because Telkom can not help you out with a line. I have been on a Neotel uncapped Prime solution for almost 2 years and I can hardly wait for the contract to terminate, although now they are talking about moving us over on a WiMax solution...maybe that could hold some good stuff in store....

Will have to wait and see....I I can suggest something, check on the Telkom website if you are covered by their WiMax solution, if so you could go for an MWeb ADSL account using the WiMax to connect....

I still had a few months on my Prime Contract and canceled this week. You only pay in the balance of your device.

Anyway, getting my Telkom line Monday morning - just confirmed :) ... then my DSL line from Cybersmart and I'll be seeing you all on the other threads :) :)

Telkom doesn't sell WiMax any more (it's on the website, but they refuse to sell it). The only other option I have is Screamer, and I haven't heard good things about them either (plus I would have to pay R3000 fee for equipment which wouldn't even be mine).

This really sucks - BTW I would never sign a 24 month contract with Neotel anyway. The second I get my line I am switching to ADSL. But what to do in the meantime... :(
