We reviewed our pro-rata billing rules and the change will be effective from 1 May 2010. In future we will apply a daily pro-rata rule, this means on registration you will only be charged for the remaining period of the month.

This rule will now be applicable on all our capped and uncapped products.

too late for my friend I guess. he signed up with 6 days left in april and seacom with down during most of that time.

This is indeed good news. The MWEB ship is turning around. Thanks.

@MWEB OPERATIONS: i applied online for a new 4096 uncapped account, data only, on the 1st May but when i went to the billing section of MyAccount, it says there i owe R1078, not R539 ?!?!

i avoided applying on the last day of April to avoid being double billed..whats going on ?

You are paying for June as well?

MWeb contracts are due and payable monthly in advance. Since you have to give 30 days notice to cancel, you have now been billed for May and June.

However debit orders are only processed on the 25th (or nearest working day), so no money will change hands until that date.

talk about fine print....

but so far their speeds are much better than AH...

am willing to stick it out for now.

That extra R20 with MWEB uncapped on 384K line data only is worth it--if we do not get shafted like AH. Support, service and hassle-free internet.

Yes this is 100% correct, you have been billed for May and June.

30 days notice to cancel? Remind me to think 5 times before signing up with MWeb then.

Billed R109.50 for one day... :'(

wow... That hurt quite a bit... I got billed R109.50 when I signed up at approx 23:00 on the 30th of April... So I essentially got billed for half a month for data I did not even use. I only started using the service at 00:30 on the 1st of May (I had to sign up with MWEB the night before, as I cancelled my subscription with my previous ISP). Couldn't you allow us to choose our activation date???

MWEB, do you consider this to be fair? Seriously seriously not cool...

You don't think you should only have signed up at 00:00?

I honestly expected something along the lines of a signup date. Or confirmation of how much I would be billed and when. Instead, I got an SMS saying that my account was active.

In addition, I would have had no internet at 00:00. :p
